Most benefits are effective for new associates on the first day of the month after date of hire. Because we recognize that our associates are one of our greatest assets, we are pleased to offer a comprehensive benefits program to full-time and part-time associates (scheduled to work at least 20 hours per week).

The company provides basic employee life insurance equal to your base annual earnings up to $1,000,000 and business travel accident insurance coverage at no cost. Additional programs are available, including:

Flexible Spending Accounts
The Health Care Reimbursement Account (HCRA) and the Dependent Care Reimbursement Account (DCRA) allow employees to pay for health care and dependent care expenses on a pretax basis. Reimbursement accounts are voluntary.
Retirement Plans
Our retirement program provides a generous company-paid pension plan, plus the opportunity to save for retirement or other financial goals through a 401(k) Profit Sharing Plan. Associates are eligible for participation in the 401(k) Plan after six months of employment.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
- Regular, full-time, benefits-eligible employees accrue PTO on the first working day of the calendar year. Vesting of accrued PTO occurs on a monthly pro-rata basis over the course of the calendar year in which PTO is accrued. Each employee’s service date is used to determine the accrual amount, as follows:

- Holidays
Transamerica Reinsurance recognizes eight holidays per calendar year: New Year's Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day After Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. In addition, associates are granted two floating holidays annually.
Internal Job Postings
Transamerica Reinsurance is committed to promoting from within. In support of this, associates have online access to information regarding vacant positions and may post for these positions if they meet the minimum requirements. Opportunities at other Transamerica and AEGON locations are also available for viewing.
Continuous Learning
Transamerica Reinsurance offers new associates an extensive new associate orientation, basic training and Beyond the Basics training programs to facilitate a quick, easy assimilation into the organization. PC software training is available in classroom and self-study formats. Insurance-specific education is available through LOMA’s self-study programs. Successful completion results in earning the prestigious FLMI or other designations.
Educational Assistance Program
Associates who wish to continue their education while employed at Transamerica Reinsurance can be reimbursed for a portion of their qualifying educational expenses, when the education will benefit them in the performance of their jobs. Reimbursement benefits are 100% of cost for tuition and books up to an annual maximum of $5,250 (unless other arrangements, which include a repayment agreement, are agreed to).
Matching Gifts Program
AEGON believes in supporting its associates' contributions to educational organizations. As a result, after six months of service, AEGON will match employee gifts to qualified accredited U.S. domiciled learning institutions. Gift amounts can be as low as $25 or as high as an annual aggregate maximum of $2,500.
Employee Assistance Programs
Employee Assistance Programs are designed to help you with personal issues that may affect job performance. This program provides confidential, professional counseling and referral services to assist associates deal with personal problems.
Adoption Benefits
Transamerica will reimburse 50% of expenses related to adoption of a child under 18, up to a maximum of $3,000. Eligible expenses include adoption fees, court costs, attorneys’ fees and travel expenses directly related to legal adoption.
Business Casual Attire
Transamerica Reinsurance in Charlotte observes business casual attire throughout the year.
The TARe Connection
The TARe Connection offers opportunities for Charlotte-based associates to become involved in community, charitable and social activities including food drives, sports leagues and company event planning.
Parking
Underground parking is available at no cost to all associates at Transamerica Square. Please note that there is a waiting list for Transamerica Square parking. For those associates on the waiting list, we have contracted for additional covered, secure parking offsite at Discovery Place, on the corner of 6th and Church, at a cost of $20 per month payroll deduction from the associate.
AEGON / Transamerica Merchandise Available Online
Associates may purchase a wide variety of AEGON / Transamerica logo products, including casual business attire, golf-related items, recognition gifts and business accessories.
Dell Computers Employee Purchase Program
Associates can access a special Dell Computer web site to receive a discount on selected PC models for personal and family use.
